We dedicate this workshop to our friend and colleague Valentin Lychagin on the occasion of his 60th birthday.

Valentin Lychagin made important contributions to the area of differential geometry and differential equations. The topics of the workshop reflect his scientific activity (the picture to the left).

The picture to the right demonstrates some of his non-mathematical interests.
