Marius Overholt "Cohomologies and characteristic classes".

We start with a quick exposition of the basics of de Rham cohomology, and continue with a more leisurely discussion of the Chern-Weil theory of characteristic classes (without proofs). If there is time, I will anticipate the topic of my talk next week by mentioning the connection between characteristic classes.
