"Derived categories and semiorthogonal decompositions in geometry".

I will give a gentle introduction to derived categories focusing in particular on their use in algebraic geometry. I overview the main conjectures and open problems in the field. Time permitting, I will skim on some new results on the derived categories of Enriques surfaces, which are joint works with R.Moschetti (UiS) and G.Scattareggia (UiB).
