Marius Overholt "Uniformization in differential geometry".

We offer a viewpoint on uniformization in higher dimensional differential geometry that links to the Chern-Weil theory of characteristic classes. As examples, we will discuss the Gauss-Bonnet integrand, Hermitian geometry, symplectic geometry, and the Chern-Simons theory of three-manifolds.
