“Cartan's Method of Equivalence and Symmetries of Differential Equations”

I will explain the technique of Cartan's equivalence method. Examples will include the computation of Maurer-Cartan forms for the point symmetry pseudo-group of an ordinary differential equation of the 2nd order, the equivalence of the generalized Hunter-Saxton equation and the Euler-Poisson equation, and derivation of a Bäcklund transformation for the Liouville equation.
